Babasaheb Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, and died in Delhi on December 6, 1956. Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was a lawyer, politician, and social reformer. He is also referred to as the "Father of the Indian Constitution." Throughout his life, he worked for the rights of dalits and other socially backward groups. Ambawadekar was Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's actual surname. His teacher, Mahadev Ambedkar, however, gave him the surname Ambedkar. In Jawaharlal Nehru's Cabinet, Babasaheb Ambedkar was named India's first Law Minister. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna.
